When it was announced that Marvel and Netflix would be teaming up for four individual series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist), followed by a team-up series with The Defenders, fans were both excited and curious about this team-up between Marvel Television and the streaming giant. It was something that hadn’t been done before, and the inclusion of characters like Daredevil and Jessica Jones seemed to hint at content that would be more mature than anything we’d seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, when the first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones both premiering to praise from fans and critics alike, fans began toying with the idea of other characters worth exploring on the small screen. One character that has often been suggested by fans? Hawkeye.

While at Silicon Valley Comic Con yesterday, Hawkeye himself, Jeremy Renner, was asked if he’d do a Hawkeye series for Netflix like Daredevil, to which the actor responded enthusiastically.

“I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”

It’s an interesting suggestion, and the fact that Renner would be on board for something like this, given his previous comments about a possible Hawkeye film, is surprising. Of course, for many fans (myself included), if there were to ever be a Hawkeye series on Netflix, many would prefer it to be based on Matt Fraction‘s critically acclaimed run, something that doesn’t exactly fit with the Hawkeye we’ve come to know in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Along with expressing interest in a possible Hawkeye Netflix series, Renner was asked if he’d be open to doing a Hawkeye and Black Widow movie, something that’d be sure to please plenty of fans, and Renner seemred definitely interested.

“In a second. I’d love to do that.”

If either of these were to happen, I’d hope it’d be the Hawkeye and Black Widow film, as opposed to a possible Hawkeye series. What about you? Sound off in the comments below!
