Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nicky Fury has played a pivotal role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since he first appeared in the end credits of Iron Man back in 2008. However, since 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Jackson’s role in the MCU has considerably diminished. He played a small role in last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, but wasn’t featured in Ant-Man, and has yet to be confirmed as appearing in this May’s Captain America: Civil War. However, it appears as though Fury will be returning soon, although the film that he’ll reportedly be returning for may be a bit surprising.
According to a new report from Australian paper Gold Coast Bulletin, which was located by the folks over at Comic Book Movies, Jackson has been has been reported to return for the third Thor installment.
According to the Gold Coast Bulletin newspaper, which serves the east coast region of Australia where Thor: Ragnarok will be shooting primarily, pre-production will hit full-swing this week, and Samuel L. Jackson has been “tipped” to return as Nick Fury in the 2017 flick. Apparently, the veteran actor will take part in scenes shot at the Village Roadshow Studios in Queensland, Australia, where he and Loki, Tom Hiddleston, just filmed Kong: Skull Island.
With Ragnarok not entering production until June, Jackson and Hiddleston both wrapping a film in Australia (where Ragnarok is shooting as well) doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll work together on the Thor film, but it does add some validity to the report especially if the talks happened during filming and the chemistry between the two actors sparked interest from Marvel to pair them up again.
We likely won’t hear concrete casting info until the summer, but stay tuned for all the latest Thor: Ragnarok news ahead of its November 3rd, 2017 release.
