A lot is currently in development over at Marvel Studios. One of their largest and probably most ambitious projects is to expand their universe through mini-series. Looks like one of Marvel Studios’ first original series on Disney’s upcoming streaming service has finally found its showrunner. It looks like Michael Waldron, a writer of the popular animated sci-fi show Rick and Morty, will be responsible for shining a light on one of the MCU’s most popular anti-villain. There are no hints on when we can expect the series to air but they do confirm that he will be involved with writing the pilot episode. That is not all, as the Hollywood Reporter also got the scoop on the storyline the series will follow once it airs on Disney+.

“Sources say the show will follow Loki as the trickster and shapeshifter pops up throughout human history as unlikely influencer on historical events.”

It looks like the rumors of it being a prequel show are piling up. We do know that Tom Hiddleston will return in the upcoming show and that there is a potential for him to become a narrator of his own story. It looks like the show might not take place mostly on Asgard but rather explore a lot of MCU’s history that we still know little about. It is a clever idea, as Loki is well over thousands of years old, so this way they can bring back Hiddleston even if it is a prequel series. This series might also play into what exactly he has been up to before his inevitable betrayal of his brother Thor. A writer from Rick and Morty will probably also bring in quite a bit of humor as they re-tell the history from Loki’s standpoint. Just imagine the fact that Loki meddling with Albert Einstein helped him uncover the theory of relativity. It feels like Marvel Studios’ main goal is to break their own rules and conventions with these series. Hopefully, we will get some teases of what we can expect once they start production.

What are your hopes for the series? What events do you want to see Loki meddle in?
