Despite previous reports of Marvel Studios looking for a new writer for the Doctor Strange sequel, it seems like C. Robert Cargill will return to pen a script for the movie. While he wasn’t officially announced alongside Scott Derrickson, it shouldn’t be a surprise either, as the two of them have been longtime collaborators since the horror movie Sinister.

With his return as writer, it’s more and more likely that Nightmare will be the villain, as revealed in an interview last year with Movie Web.

“Nightmare will be the villain. Me and Scott have not laid the groundwork for it but what I can say is that I have a feeling that whatever Nightmare is involved with, Baron Mordo, being somebody who considers himself the defender of natural law will have something to do with it.”

It’s exciting to see their plans for the sequel, nearly a year ago, finally come to fruition.
