After appearing in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, over these past years as this universe’s version of Night Nurse, Claire Temple, it seems like Rosario Dawson is finally bowing out and her final scene in the latest season of Luke Cage may be her last. She even had her own input on her final scene thanks to showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker, as she explained to Indie Wire.

“When the scene was first written, to be honest, it was a little bit more written on his side and his storyline and that kind of stuff,” Dawson said. “And I approached Cheo and had the audacity of adding some lines and rewriting some stuff and asked him if that could work.”

Not only was Coker open to her suggestions, but “he gave me a really amazing compliment — he said, ‘You want to join the writers’ room? Because this is great.’”

In fact, this isn’t the first time the possibility of her leaving has come up, as she was asked about her future with Marvel at the MCM Comic Con in London way back in May.

“Yeah, its pretty wild actually. I don’t know if I’ll be back after this, to be honest, but it’s been an amazing few years. I’ve been on a lot of different shows. I mean, I don’t know if maybe they do a third season of Luke Cage potentially, or maybe if they figure out some kind of way for me to be on The Punisher – just so I can feel like I’ve done every show. But it’s been like, my daughter is high school, so I kinda wanna’ not be 3000 miles away for work.”

While it wasn’t a clear cut “no” to future appearances as Claire Temple, it seems like Rosario Dawnson is done with the MCU for the foreseeable future, so as to not be thousands of miles away from her daughter. It’s definitely a bummer for fans of the character who wished to see her in Daredevil Season 3. On the bright side, it’s great that Dawson got to leave the character on her own terms.
