Last week, The Wrap revealed the shortlist of actors being considered for the role of Spider-Man. That list consisted of Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet, and Liam James. It now appears as though Asa Butterfield has pulled through as the top choice for the role according to a new report from Latino-Review.
So who is the front-runner? Asa Butterfield Leads the Bunch. We have reached out to Asa’s reps who have given us a “no comment.” We have also reached out other industry sources who have confirmed that he is indeed the front runner including one who believed that he already had bagged the role, by stating: “Marvel had liked him since day one.”
With Spider-Man expected to appear in Captain America: Civil War, which officially started filming yesterday, it’s more than likely we’ll hear if Butterfield has bagged the role within the next two weeks.
Shooting began today on Civil War. Best of luck to the Russo brothers, cast and crew #CaptainAmericaCivilWar
