There is very little that we know about the upcoming Iron Fist show on Netflix. As of right now, there is no showrunner attached, and we have yet to hear of any casting news. It’s also worth noting that, while it’s easy to assume the show will debut in 2016, Netflix and Marvel have yet to confirm when it’ll be released. Which is why today’s rumor from Bleeding Cool is both intriguing and questionable.
Per Bleeding Cool, they are hearing that Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange could appear in Iron Fist in some way.
So here’s another from one of my similarly well connected sources, that it is planned that the character of Doctor Strange will make an appearance in Marvel’s Netflix shows.
Specifically Iron Fist.
Whether he will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch as he is in the upcoming movie scheduled for next year, or will be shown in a way that doesn’t need such a high profile actor to be on set, I don’t know. But odds are that the Cumberbatch will at least do the voice.
Now, is this possible? Sure. Bleeding Cool isn’t exactly the go-to source for Marvel scoops, but they’ve been right as of late. Still, that doesn’t mean this is a guarantee. As mentioned previously, there is currently no showrunner attached to Iron Fist – although I’d expect that to change once Luke Cage enters production – nor is there an actor set for the role of Danny Rand, so it’s hard to know what will actually happen on the show.
It is worth noting that Doctor Strange is set to start filming this November, and it’ll more than likely film through April of next year. If Iron Fist were to follow the same production schedule as A.K.A. Jessica Jones, and it more than likely will, that would have it filming at the same time as Doctor Strange, completing filming around July of next year for release in late 2016 — around the same time Doctor Strange would hit movie theaters on November 4, 2016.
What do you think? Would you like to see Cumberbatch in Iron Fist?
