Well this is interesting. It appears that Finn Jones IS in fact going to be playing Danny Rand as EW looks to have confirmed the news.

Marvel has found its newest superhero: Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones has landed the coveted series lead of Iron Fist.

You can read the initial report below.

Ever since Iron Fist was announced as being a part of the deal between Marvel and Netflix, fans have been speculating who would end up portraying The Defenders on the small screen. As it stands, we have Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), and Mike Colter (Luke Cage), leaving only one other role left to be filled. And according to Luke Cage himself, that role has been filled for some time, although Marvel has yet to announce any sort of casting for the series.

However, according to the folks over at That Hashtag Show, it appears that is about to change as they’re hearing about a rumored casting for the role of Danny Rand. One that is sure to be of interest to Game of Thrones fans, as the actor rumored for the role is none other than Finn Jones. Interestingly enough, out of the four Defenders, Jones is probably the least known, and unlike the others, his career has mainly been focused in television, as opposed to a balance between film and television.

Now, while this should be treated as a rumor for the time being, it is worth noting that the folks over at That Hashtag Show were the first to report the casting of Slingshot back in November. It’s also of note that Luke Cage is nearing the end of production on season one, meaning we can expect Marvel and Netflix to start prepping for production on Iron Fist within the coming months. So, taking that all into consideration, it does give more weight to this rumor as casting for Danny Rand will more than likely be officially announced by early March.

Still, even unconfirmed, it’s hard not to be excited as this is the first rumored casting for Iron Fist, and honestly? That’s better than the ever long silence we’ve been dealing with these past few months!
