Somehow we are getting more news for Disney+ shows that are still in the earliest stages of production as of late. Marvel Studios has been hard at work to prepare their line-up for the streaming service so it is a given that they would dominate the news. Hawkeye just recently started garnering more attention with the announcement of its directors and its working title Anchor Point. This also includes a variety of rumors surrounding the potential villains, such as Clint’s brother Trickshot and even some rumors pointing at an addition from the Matt Fraction run. The show might not see the light of day until 2022 but the series has been seeing quite a lot of life behind the scenes.
Now, a rumor returns from way back in September of last year has returned. The show will introduce the world to Kate Bishop, a member of the Young Avengers, who carried on the title of Hawkeye in the comics. Marvel Studios was hoping to cast Hailee Steinfeld in the lead role. However, there were also rumors circulating that her contract for the Apple+, where she starred in the show Dickinson, might have halted the negotiations. Now, according to Illuminerdi, they believe that she has officially signed on to the project to star as Bishop.
Until something official is stated, we cannot be certain that this casting is finalized. There is a chance they are still negotiating with her to finalize her contract. Marvel Studios seemed quite set on casting her in the titular role so it will be interesting to see what she will bring to the role. She has built up quite a reputation with her leading roles in The Edge of Seventeen and Bumblebee. Filming is currently rumored to start in October. So, we might get an official announcement in the coming months. She would make a great addition to the MCU’s all-star cast. It will be interesting to see what their plans are with her character moving forward once she appeared in Hawkeye.
What do you think of this casting?
