UPDATE 2: Based on a new report by Bloody Disgusting, Statham is in fact “deep in negotiations” for the role of Bullseye. Should they finalize the deal, we could get an official announcement soon, but no later than Comic-Con since season 2 of Daredevil will start production in late June or early July.

UPDATED: [Comic Book Resources](no truth to it at all.), who reached out to Marvel TV, have reported that Marvel responded saying, “no truth to it at all. I’d caution you to not accept either the rumor of Statham as Bullseye nor the denial by the studio as fact. It’s common in these instances for studios to issue denials that later turn out the be “untrue.”

Last week, a couple of audition tapes for season two of Daredevil made their way online, confirming that Elektra Natchios will be making her way to Hell’s Kitchen for Daredevil’s season two. Now a week later, Latino-Review is reporting that Marvel is looking at actor Jason Statham to tackle the role of Bullseye.

They also go on to name a few other villians that we could possibly see pop up in season two:

Aside from Bullseye, other villainous characters who are said to appear in Daredevil’s highly-anticipated second season include Mr Fear, Mysterio (one of Spider-Man’s iconic rogues), and Elektra – Daredevil’s eventual love interest.

During our “Where Do We Go From Here” post, in which we speculated what may happen in season two, we mentioned what role that Bullseye could play.

Let’s say Wilson Fisk does stay locked up in prison. While inside and planning his next move outside, he befriends a sociopath tied up in solitary confinement awaiting death row. Fisk eventually manages to get out – legally or through a prison break orchestrated by the man himself – and takes his guy with him as an enforcer for the new crime empire. The man proves himself to be the most lethal enforcer Fisk has ever had and sets his sights on Daredevil and starts calling himself Bullseye. Bullseye is one of Marvel’s most ruthless and terrifying villains, and done right would add further evidence to the argument that Marvel/Netflix may have the greatest villains in the MCU.

Given how wonderfully they handled the character of Wilson Fisk in season one, who managed to be both terrifying and yet captivating, I’m eager to see how they’d tackle Bullseye. And while he wasn’t someone I’d originally considered for the role, I think Statham would be a great choice if this rumor ends up being true.

With star Charlie Cox saying that they’re planning on releasing the second season of Daredevil in April next year, it would make sense that we’re starting to hear more about possible castings. In order to be ready for an April release again next year, they’ll need to enter production in July to be finished by December again.

As of right now, Statham has not signed on for the role, so this is far from official and the trades have yet to comment on this report, so for now be sure to take it with a grain of salt.
