One of the most unique traits of the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe is how its different movies and tv shows are all connected. Even though it has been kind of a hit and miss with that concept, the newly announced Marvel Disney+ shows premiering in the next couple years have the potential to bring that concept even further along, most notably with the Tom Hiddleston-led series, Loki! An exclusive rumor from FandomWire gives some new insight into the God of Mischief’s solo series, which will reportedly begin shooting in early 2020 and is scheduled for a spring 2021 release.
During the Avengers’ Time Heist in their latest blockbuster adventure, their plan to retrieve the Space Stone went awry after 2023 Tony Stark’s way too close encounter with 2012 Hulk, giving 2012 Loki (you know, the one that just tried to rule Earth and enslave the human race) the opportunity to, yet again, steal the Tesseract. The movie’s time travel rules dictate that this action creates a splintered timeline, which is where we will be catching up with our favorite trickster traveling through space and the multiverse.
According to FandomWire, that alternate-timeline-Loki will use the Space Stone to return to the main MCU timeline in time for Thor: Love and Thunder with a still-intact Mjolnir too. How he does that with the Space Stone alone is beyond us but it’s a very intriguing idea nonetheless. As always, take this rumor with a giant grain of salt.
Disney and Marvel have been even more adamant than usual about the new Disney+ shows being canon and interwoven with the movies of Phase 4, with Kevin Feige going so far as to reveal information such as the events of Wandavision being directly connected to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This is seeming more and more to be the case with Loki as well, which reinforces that Phase 4’s movies and Disney+ shows can’t come out soon enough!
