For fans of the Thor movies, there has been no shortage of news about the upcoming installment, Thor: Ragnarok, over the past few weeks. Not only has the cast been getting bigger but some of the people involved have been teasing what the movie could be about.
Now, a new rumor has arrived revealing who Cate Blanchett could be playing and what she will do that will disrupt Thor’s life.
Warning: Potential spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok below.
According to Geek.com, who has been spilling the beans on a few different Marvel properties recently, they know more than just the fate of Odin. They are now reporting that the main villain in the movie will be Hela and based on co-star Mark Ruffalo saying Cate Blanchett is playing a “baddie”, it appears that she will in fact be playing the character. This is not a complete shock as many people (even us over a year ago) speculated this was a possibility, but what she is up to and what she does may be the most surprising.
They went on to say that she would be working with Loki in some capacity and will be the reason Thor goes on his galactic road trip.
Hela and Loki will have set their plan well in motion by the time Thor gets wise to what’s going on. Hela ends up creating the incident to Thor’s journey in the film. According to our sources, when Thor confronts Hela, things do not go well. Not only does she banish Thor from Asgard, but she destroys Mjolnir!
If this turns out to be the case, Thor traveling the galaxy with the Hulk in hopes of restoring Mjolnir and figuring out how to save Asgard sounds like a great premise for the movie. My only last hope is that this adventure leads to a meeting with the Korbinites and Beta Ray Bill or Nidavellir.
