We’re just under a year away from the release of Avengers: Infinity War, and we couldn’t be more excited. While we do have several MCU films to look forward to in the meantime, we’re still dying to see a some footage from the film. However, if past trends are any indication, we may end up getting a very brief teaser from San Diego Comic Con next month, with a full teaser trailer likely to be released in October. Until then, we’ll have to settle for the small teases directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been dropping for us on social media. Sometimes these teases aren’t all that monumental, like the time they teased this tasty Easter egg from Infinity War, but sometimes there’s something far more interesting, like this:

It’s a pretty close shot, but it definitely looks like it’s from the cosmic corner of the MCU. Given the fact that this film will feature everything and everyone in the MCU from the Guardians of the Galaxy to Asgard, that doesn’t quite narrow it down all that much. After closer inspection though, it definitely appears that the image in question has something to do with the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. The popular theory online right now is that this is the door to the vault where Thanos stores the Infinity Gauntlet that we saw in the post credits scene for Avengers Age of Ultron. Here’s the scene in case any of you needed your memories jogged:

So this post credits scene is obviously from the inside of the vault, but if you watch closely in the background as the lights come up inside the vault as the door opens, the photo matches pretty well. The photo from the tweet lines up with what we saw in this footage, so it’s more than likely that the Russos are teasing more scenes involving Thanos’ vault. One interesting question that this raises however, is when this scene takes place in the film. There are two ways this could probably go down; the first theory is that the aforementioned scene from Age of Ultron is a preview of an actual scene in Infinity War. This kind of preview wouldn’t be unusual, especially considering the first post credits scene in Ant-Man was a rough cut of a scene from Captain America: Civil War. For those of you who may not remember, the scene I’m referring to is the scene where Cap and Falcon talk to Bucky just as he regains consciousness following the big helicopter scene.

Yeah, that’s the one.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. So it makes sense that this scene with Thanos grabbing the Gauntlet could be taken from the actual film, but a second theory is that we could see this vault show up somewhere else in the film. We know that Thanos will spend most of the film trying to procure the rest of the Infinity Stones from the various corners of the MCU, but what if the Avengers were after the Gauntlet? Even though the Stones themselves are immensely powerful on their own, their power is increased exponentially when they’re brought together in teh Gauntlet. However, there’s one caveat: the Gauntlet itself is useless without the Stones. When the Avengers see that Thanos is likely to succeed in gathering all of the Stones together, it makes sense to assume that their last-ditch effort to stop the Mad Titan would be an all-out assault on Thanos’ home turf in a desperate attempt to steal or destroy the Gauntlet before Thanos can put all of the Stones into it.

What do you think? Will we see the Avengers storm Thanos’ Vault, or is this just from a scene we’ve already seen? Sound off in the comments!
