Ever since last year’s surprise hit Deadpool came out, there has been a lot of hope that Ryan Reynolds would be able to meet the Avengers at some point. Just imagine seeing the Merc with a Mouth try to out-quip Tony Stark, or mocking Captain America by constantly cursing. There is a lot of potential with this kind of crossover, but as the mercenary is part of the X-Men deal, his rights are with 20th Century Fox. Still, even that hasn’t stopped Reynolds’ own hopes this happening at some point in the future, as he revealed in an interview with Total Film.

That sounds like a great idea but a very expensive idea. Can you imagine the shit-talking contest with Iron Man? Oh, that would be great. But it would have to be rated R to completely unharness everybody. Unbridle the merriment and watch them go…”

It would be quite different to see an R-rated film from Marvel Studios. Sadly, the actor is not wrong that it would turn out to be a very expensive venture for all parties involved. 20th Century Fox won’t just share the rights for the character so easily and it would take some time until negotiations would work out in anyone’s favor. With Josh Brolin playing both Thanos in the MCU and Cable in the sequel to Deadpool, an indirect crossover is already happening. With the character’s meta-humor, there is a good chance that we’ll at least hear the mercenary joke about Brolin being less purple than he expected.

Would you want to see this crossover happen? What MCU characters do you want to see interact with Deadpool? Let us know, in the comments!
