It’s been an understandably dry spell for Marvel news recently, which is something that doesn’t look like it’ll change any time soon. However, we do (finally) have some minor updates on the Eternals – and while they’re not much, they’re better than nothing!

First up, Salma Hayek recently elaborated on her role in the film in a new interview. “At 53 – finally! – I can be a superhero,” Hayek told Total Film, reconfirming her role as Ajak, the leader of the Eternals. This particular snippet isn’t new – we’ve known that Hayek’s Ajak would lead the team for a while now – but Hayek did expand a little on this: “the rest of us [Eternals] are like misfits, and we’re all superheroes, and I get to be the leader. That sounds really appropriate! Yes, why not? Let’s go! It just made me feel like, ‘Maybe they’re doing something different.’ And they are.”

She also gushed a little about the film’s director, Chloé Zhao, whose involvement was what drew Hayek to the project in the first place: [she] is amazing. Did you see her first movie? The Rider? I was blown away,” she said, adding that “the one thing that excited me the most was the director”.

In other Eternals news, a list of Funko Pop! Vinyls being made for the film has leaked online – and reveals two new characters who will be making an appearance: Arishem, a Celestial, and Kro, the leader of the Deviants. You can check out the full list below:

With any luck it shouldn’t be too long before we hear more about the Eternals – but with the ongoing Hollywood shutdown, who knows when that might be! Regardless, Eternals is currently set for release on November 6, 2020, assuming it too isn’t pushed back.
