Ever since the end of the first Iron Man film, Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury has been an indelible part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the director of S.H.I.E.L.D, Fury helped bring the Avengers together and aided in creating cohesion between the various films in the sprawling mega franchise via his appearances in individual character’s films. But after the events of Captain America: Winter Soldier and the dissolution of his iteration of S.H.I.E.L.D, Nick Fury’s appearances have been few and far between. Last seen giving the Avengers a big assist in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which he supplied an off the books helicarrier, Fury has since been missing in action.
The ever-busy actor, Samuel L. Jackson, while speaking to the press about his new movie with Tim Burton, Miss Peregrine’s School For Peculiar Children, had this to say about the return of his spymaster character.
“I hear I’m around in 3 and 4. I hear I’m back.” However, when pressed about when he would be going to Atlanta to start shooting his part, Jackson said he didn’t know when he would be filming.
What his role will be in the upcoming conflict against Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet remains to be seen. With the Avengers at odds and scattered after Captain America: Civil War, perhaps they’ll need the man that got them together in the first place to reassemble the team. What do you think Nick Fury’s role should be in the upcoming Avengers movies? Tell us in the comments section below.
