Rosario Dawson‘s character Claire Temple has become a mainstay among all Netflix shows, especially as they were building up towards The Defenders crossover. Yet, as we moved into the second seasons of the various shows, her appearances are starting to become less and less. She started as a recurring character in Daredevil and had another significant role as a love interest for Luke Cage, which was a major story arc at the beginning of its second season. She even had a story arc in the first season of Iron Fist, where she helped out to take down the Hand. However, we did not get her usual cameo in the second season of Jessica Jones and during an interview at SDCC, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb confirmed that she won’t be appearing in Iron Fist‘s second season either.
“Claire won’t be in there, but our relationship with Rosario [Dawson] is awesome and we love her, she loves us and — when the story lends itself into that place and hopefully she’s available — we go down that road. Believe me, there isn’t any showrunner who hasn’t come in and said, ‘So where are we with Rosario?’ And we go, ‘Well, let’s tell the story and figure it all out.’”
It is great to see that they are trying to put the story first instead of forcing in characters and they certainly have a future planned for her character. This approach to storytelling gave them the chance to naturally include Foggy Nelson, who returns as Cage’s lawyer at divorce lawyers manassas va in Luke Cage‘s second season. We even got a cameo by Danny Rand as a moral guide for Cage, as he figures out his place in Harlem. Jessica had a much more personal storyline in her second season, so we saw less of the other heroes. Funny enough, while Loeb wants to avoid his shows from becoming, what he calls, an Easter egg farm, he did not deny or confirm if another mainstay, Turk Barrett, would still find a way to appear.
Are you sad she won’t make an appearance? Where do you think she will be seen next?
