The Defenders panel is currently underway at San Diego Comic Con, and we’ve just gotten a bombshell announcement: Iron First has been renewed for a second season. Fans of the show can breathe a sigh of relief, as some were concerned about the show’s future given the mixed reviews it received domestically. Fear not, True Believers, Danny Rand is back!  While we don’t have official confirmation, it’s fairly safe to assume that Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing will also be returning, along with the Meachum siblings and Davos! We have gotten one official casting announcement  for the show’s sophomore season, and it’s a doozy. During the same panel, it was announced that Simone Missick will be joining the cast, reprising her role as Misty Knight as a series regular, confirming a Daughters of the Dragon reunion!

As of right now, Misty Knight’s inclusion in the second season is the only official confirmation we have. The only other thing that we could’ve expected tonight was a showrunner announcement, but no one has been confirmed yet. Scott Buck, who served as showrunner for the first season of Iron Fist, along with Inhumans, received some less than stellar reception for his interpretation of Danny Rand and the world of Iron Fist, but it’s unclear whether or not he’ll return. If he does, we can most likely expect to see Marvel and ABC Studios take more creative control over the second season, meaning the show may be very differently tonally on it’s second outing.
