We’ve known for a while that the current slate of Disney+ series will make an impact on the upcoming movies of Phase 4 of the MCU. It is just a matter of when and what conflict will be about. And now, it seems that we have an answer. A new rumor from Bleeding Cool suggests that a Secret Invasion storyline will be a basis for an unannounced Disney+ series in the works for the streaming service.
The site revealed that the rumored Secret Invasion Disney+ series will tie in with the Captain Marvel movies presumably the recently confirmed Captain Marvel 2. This makes sense given that the Skrulls were first introduced in Captain Marvel. Even though we have seen Skrulls working with Carol Danvers, Nick Fury, and possibly S.W.O.R.D., this would suggest that there are still evil Skrulls in the galaxy waiting for the right time to strike.
If this proves to be true, Marvel Studios will be taking a bold risk greenlighting a series with massive implications for the MCU. The events that will transpire in this series are going to be game-changing if some of the major characters we’ve seen throughout the Infinity Saga are proven to be Skrulls all this time.
One way for a Disney+ series would work for a Secret Invasion storyline is to do it on a smaller scale involving characters that we haven’t seen much or those who are just introduced. This is ideal since the rumor suggests that the storyline would be the basis for the series. In that way, this would not cheap out any existing major relationships that we are already seeing in the MCU. Once the series plants the idea of infiltration of Skrulls and not trusting anyone to casual audiences, they can later translate it to the big screen involving the major players of the MCU. If anything, this is simply just a rumor and we can all take it as a massive grain of salt.
