Luke Cage, Marvel’s third Netflix series leading up the The Defenders, has been quietly filming in New York for about two weeks now. And while the cast has been growing steadily, set photos have proven hard to come by until now. Thanks to the folks over at Coming Soon, we now have our first look at two of the villains of the series – Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali) and Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard).

While Woodard’s casting was announced by Deadline back in August, Marvel only officially announced her casting yesterday, along with confirmation that she’d be playing a version of Black Mariah in the series. As of right now, Ali and Woodard are the only two additional cast members that Marvel has confirmed as of now, although with production now underway, we can probably expect them to confirm the additions of Frank Whaley (Detective Scarfe), , Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Theo Rossi (Shades), and the return of Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple soon.

Along with officially confirming Woodard’s casting yesterday, Marvel released a brand new synopsis for the series which you can read below.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury

As always, for all things Luke Cage, be sure to follow along here.
