While not much is known yet about the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 projects, the rumors are starting to trickle in concerning the films and Disney+ series that will premiere starting in 2020. With the quantity of projects that will be released over the next 2 years, there is a huge number of casting rumors and confirmations that we will sift through in the near and distant future, and tonight brings us one of the newest rumors! A new report from Full Circle Cinema tells us that Marvel Studios is currently working on the casting for multiple classic villains for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, including the likes of Tiger-Claw, Razor-Fist, Ghostmaker, and Moving Shadow.
All 4 of these characters have a connection with Shang-Chi in the comics, with relationships ranging from friends of his father to half-sibling, and all of them have formidable martial arts skills for the titular hero to combat. Based on the characters rumored to be cast, the thought is that they will most likely be some form of background villains that will all be working for the big bad of the movie, Tony Leung’s Mandarin.
The excitement for the movie grows with each rumor, and even if it’s just me, Simu Liu’s pure and unbridled joy to play the titular character and be a part of the ever-expanding MCU is reason enough for my growing excitement for it’s release. Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is scheduled for a release on February 12, 2021, and the fans are growing ever more anxious to see the new hero bring the Marvel martial arts to life on the big screen!
