Now, the ominous reveal for the finale’s title for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a bit scary even though there are many rumors hinting at the show getting a sixth season. ABC has quite a few shows ending this season, as ScandalOnce Upon A Time and The Middle having been confirmed to end with the 2017/2018 TV season. As of now, SHIELD is still on the bubble as while ratings weren’t the strongest, it’s DVR numbers are still quite impressive for the network. The showrunners have pointed to this season’s finale working as both a series’ and season’ finale, which certainly makes fans of the show a bit nervous. It will hold the title ‘The End’ which is pointing to the last five seasons have been building up to this very moment.

There is still no official word about the show’s future and we might not know until May. It does not seem to be a coincidence that they are calling the season finale ‘The End’ as many story elements seem to be building up to a sense of finality. The fifth season brings back various elements we have not seen since the first season, such as Gravitonium and Franklin Hall suddenly getting a focus. We saw another resurrection through Kree blood, villains like Ivanov returning and even the Ghost Rider deal affecting Coulson. Especially Coulson is a hint at some kind of end heading our way, as this season has been pointing to his potential death (again). Whatever is heading our way, it will certainly one hell of an adventure.

What do you think the title means? Is truly the end of the show?
