Rumors about the MCU have been abound this week. We first heard the news that Marvel Studios was eyeing the Eternals as the next big thing followed by a rumor that Black Widow was slated for a 2020 release. Now, MovieTVTechGeeks is reporting that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been allegedly renewed for the 6th season, following confirmation from three ABC sources.
“Disney doesn’t want to lose another Avengers connection on network television,” our ABC source said. “With the upcoming season 5 finale coming in May, expect a season 6 announcement which should give diehard fans some good news.”
The site also reckons that the show may return to its original primetime Tuesday timeslot, leaving behind the weak Friday schedule. A big reason for the alleged renewal is that Marvel isn’t exactly ready to let go of the show with all major happenings going on on film. Marvel believes that the impact of Avengers: Infinity War and the eventual Avengers 4 should give this show the boost it deserves. Now we don’t know just how legitimate this site’s sources are, so take this info with your own grain of salt. With that being said, this is huge news if true. The show has hit its highest stride with the fifth season and should only get better as we near the season’s explosive end.
