Here’s one bit of information that went largely unnoticed when Yesterday star Sophia Di Martino was announced as the co-lead in the upcoming Loki Disney+ series. According to Deadline, Di Martino will appear the female version of the God of Mischief.
One source close to the production hints that Di Martino may, in fact, portray a female incarnation of Loki and, in effect share the role with Hiddleston.
For those of you who haven’t been tuning in the comics, the son of Laufey has a penchant for reincarnating himself in various forms. Loki has appeared as a teenager in recent years, a child in some, and most notably, a female after the events of Ragnarok.
While I’ve always loved Tom Hiddleston‘s take on the character, the announcement that he would be getting his own spin-off series didn’t get me excited. To me, they’ve maxed out what they could do for the character under Hiddleston guise and always felt that a fresh take on the character was the way to go. Should Deadline be on the dot on this casting, this is pretty huge and exciting news.
