China has been continuously changing the market. Hollywood has taken notice of the potential and has been scheduling their international releases accordingly. Chinese viewers must no longer wait almost half a year before they get their hands on a Hollywood-produced film. Sony certainly is aware of the potential and released Spider-Man: Far From Home a week early in China. After just five days, the film has managed to garner around $120 million. As of now, the film has already surpassed the entire cume of Spider-Man: Homecoming in China, which stood at $119.6 million.

It currently is the fourth-highest grossing superhero film in the region and is Sony’s second-highest earner. Venom is currently still Sony’s best performing film in China. The film is also running around 24% ahead of Marvel Studios’ other major 2019 solo film Captain Marvel. These numbers are a good sign for Far From Home‘s release, especially with the market being 10% behind in comparison to the last year. Korea and Australia have also already opened Monday night with the film currently being 40% over Homecoming and 52% ahead of Captain Marvel. In Australia, it even was Sony Pictures biggest launch day ever with the unusual Monday release. We will also slowly see the international and national release over the upcoming days. It looks like it will be a massive year for Marvel Studios with a potential third film passing the $1 billion mark.

What are your predictions for the upcoming release? Do you think it will pass $1 billion?
