Back when Marvel and Sony were still searching for directors for the untitled Spider-Man reboot, Deadline revealed a shortlist of three directors and a new duo that were being considered to direct the project. Shortly after, Marvel announced that Jon Watts had signed on to direct while Tom Holland became the latest actor to take on the Spider-Man mantle.
At the time, it was odd that a director had been found before a writer, especially after the rumors that Drew Goddard could write and direct the reboot. According to the latest report from Deadline, Marvel and Sony have finally found their writers for the still untitled Spider-Man reboot.
Deadline is reporting that John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Vacation, Horrible Bosses) will write the first installment of the Spider-Man reboot. The duo was up for the directing job, so they clearly already know what vision both companies have for the next attempt at a Spider-Man franchise.
The untitled Spider-Man reboot is set to hit theaters July 28, 2017, but we will get our first look at Holland as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War which will hit movie theaters on May 6, 2016.
