Here’s something no one in the world expected to drop. Earlier today, Tom Holland took to Instagram to tell the world that no announcement regarding the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel was happening in his guest appearance at ACE Comic-Con, while at the same ‘revealing’ the title for the sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

I feel very confused by this reveal. On one hand because the whole thing is played for laughs, there’s that seeming likelihood that it’s a fake title to mess with fans until they reveal the actual title down the road. Remember when they trolled fans 4 years ago when they revealed the third Captain America title as Captain America: Serpent Society? Marvel knows how much of a tattletale Holland is so this feels like an attempt to embrace and poke fun at that reputation of his.

On the other hand, the title… kind of works. It thematically fits the “Home” element that was central to the first film. It’s certainly deeper than the rumored ‘Field Trip’ title from last month. If they were actively trolling fans with the title, you’d think that they’d go for a title that’s a little more preposterous. And with no major con appearances for the studio in the next few months, what better way to reveal big news than through its stars? Personally, I’d prefer a much more comic book-y title.

What do you think of the title? Fake or real? Got a better one in mind? Let us know in the comments below!
