Spoiler Warning: Below are potential spoilers for the upcoming Luke Cage series.
We already know that Rosario Dawson‘s Claire Temple, who first appeared in this year’s Daredevil series on Netflix, will be making her way to Harlem for Luke Cage. What we didn’t know was that she wouldn’t be the only character from Daredevil making an appearance in Netflix’s latest series. Thanks to a new report from a Reddit user that happened upon the set last night, we know there will be at least one more visitor making their way from Hell’s Kitchen.
So unfortunately you’ll just have to take this from word of mouth, but long story short I live and work in NYC and last night, around midnight Luke Cage was shooting two streets from my work! It’s shooting under the name “tiara” like any other fan boy of course I had to check it out. Mike Colter was standing on the corner and I got to shake his hand and tell him how hyped I was for the show, but the biggest spoiler was MADAME GAO was also there filming the scene!! To my knowledge they have not been confirmed as being in the show but they were also standing on the street corner!! The only reason they didn’t let me take a picture is Mr. Colter said he wasn’t allowed to while in costume : /. Still, after her role in Dare Devil she’ll probably play a huge role in the Defenders.
That’s right. It appears Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho) will make an appearance in Luke Cage. Of course, as the Reddit user stated above, Gao’s return has not been confirmed by Marvel yet – for either Daredevil season two or Luke Cage, both of which are currently filming in New York. Yet, her return isn’t entirely surprising. It has been speculated by fans for a while now that Gao is actually The Crane Mother, an Iron Fist villain. And with Iron Fist next in line for his own show, it would make sense to further expand on that world ahead of time.
As of right now, we don’t know much about Iron Fist. An actor hasn’t been announced, and neither has a showrunner, though I’d expect that to change by the end of the year. Still, it looks as though they’re definitely planting the seeds for Iron Fist with the other series, and it’ll be interesting to see what brings Gao and Cage together.
Luke Cage, which stars Mike Colter as the titular hero, is set to hit Netflix at some point in 2016.
