Next month kicks off Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while we are looking forward to seeing what Captain America: Civil War holds, it is hard not to look to the future and end of Phase 3. Marvel has already announced the Phase 3 slate and even though they have changed things around to include the likes of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Spider-Man, they have a plan set in place.
Marvel has the utmost belief in the Russo Brothers and have given them the reigns for Phase 3, and while promoting their latest film for the company, they have confirmed appearance by two more characters in Avengers: Infinity War. They told Comicbook.com that both Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will be joining in the fight against Thanos. This obviously exciting as we finally have confirmation that the Guardians and Avengers will crossover in some capacity. I’m sure the other Guardians will join in alongside Star-Lord, but Anthony Russo stated just how excited they are to bring him to the film and truly combine the MCU.
The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU so you don’t want to get into spoilers but I’m a big fan of what James Gunn has done. [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you’d be very excited.
The other less shocking but still good to know news is that Thor is sticking around too. Anthony Russo teased what his inclusion will mean for the movie and the character, and in doing so seems to hint at some very cool stuff coming in his next movie.
I’m excited to work with Thor. They’re doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he’s gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he’s gonna have a real emotional motivation after that.
I am of the mindset that Thanos will have some part in the possible destruction of Asgard as he tries to collect up the Infinity Stones or take back the other Infinity Gauntlet. This would definitely give Thor great motivation to defeat the Mad Titan, but it could also be something where Loki is helping Thanos out again and Thor will no longer stand for his brothers bad behavior.
No matter how they are included, it is great to know that they are both going to be in Avengers: Infinity War. The possibilities at play are great and as we near closer to each of their respective movies next year, we should gain a better understanding of where they will be when Infinity War kicks off. Let us know what you think of Star-Lord and Thor being in Infinity War in the comments below!
Star-Lord can next be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which is scheduled to hit theaters May 5, 2017. Thor can next be seen in Thor: Ragnarok which is scheduled to hit theaters November 3, 2017. They will both share the screen in Avengers: Infinity War which is scheduled to hit theaters May 4, 2018 for Part 1 and May 3, 2019 for Part 2.
