As the TCA’s have continued to unfold, we have gotten more information on the Netflix corner of the MCU. They confirmed a second season of Jessica Jones, the possibility of new spin-off series’, and an update on the Iron Fist casting process. All those updates are about projects that are at least a year away, maybe more.
In just a few months however, season 2 of Daredevil will hit Netflix and give us more of what we loved from season 1 plus plenty of new additions. Not only are Jon Bernthal (Punisher) and Elodie Yung (Elektra) new additions to the cast, but Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie are the new showrunners.
The four of them, plus Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson) attended the Daredevil panel at this weekend’s TCAs to talk about season 2.
Many of us are itching to see what Elektra will look like and how she will be portrayed in the show. Based on Yung’s comments, she is going to be very complex. Oh, and she’ll be suiting up!
Yung: Elektra isn’t a bad or good person. She has different traits and layers, seeking who she is.
Elektra is kind of a sociopath. This world is a chess game for her.
There’s definitely a costume.
Ramirez went on to not only reiterate and confirm Yung’s comment, but also that more than just her will be suiting up.
Ramirez: Will people be wearing kick-ass costumes on this show? At some point, everybody does!
They were also asked about the recent Punisher spin-off but would neither confirm or deny it. He will be making his first appearance in Daredevil’s show and the lead was able to tease what is in store.
Cox: Season 2 begins and a period of time has passed. The crime rate has plummeted.
He can’t be as anonymous as he was in the 1st season. That informs not only his actions but how he carries himself.
The world forces Matt to re-question everything he is.
The danger in the second season is that you have to reinvent it a little bit. That’s immensely difficult.
Murdock and his best friend Foggy came into a bit of conflict when Foggy found out the double life he had been living. This will cause an adjustment from Foggy where he has to figure out,
Henson: How his own moral code fits into what Matt … is doing.
Season 2 of Daredevil will debut exclusively on Netflix March 18th at 12:01 PST.
