Since the creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the world in which it exists in has changed quite a bit. Now, superheroes patrol the world and stop villainous threats such as an alien invasion, a giant robot, corrupt government agencies, and much more. All of that would certainly be strange to see, but shortly a whole new world of threats will be unleashed. Doctor Strange is set to bring in mysticism and magic to a world that has so far done a fairly good job at explaining how other threats have arose. Now, there will be threats that not only are not from this world, but that the majority of people can not even see.
The footage that has so far been shown for Doctor Strange promises stunning visualizations of magic and the abilities that it has. For our soon to be new hero Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), he is able to access these abilities thanks to plenty of studying and practice, but also the Eye of Agamotto that hangs around his neck. The promotion leading up to the movie has not been shy on showing off the artifact, but the newest image brings it to life.
It has long been speculated that the Eye of Agamotto houses one of the two remaining Infinity Stones, most likely the Time Stone, and this latest image only further makes me believe this will be the case. The Eye seems to open the casing that seemingly houses the stone to help project the spells that Strange casts, and we have seen before that a small green stone like object is sitting in the center. What does this mean exactly for Strange’s abilities if he loses the stone within the Eye? I have no idea, but this image is certainly interesting whether you buy into this theory or not. Doctor Strange is scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016.
