With 2020 finally upon us, Phase 4 of the MCU is starting to inch closer and closer to its official debut this summer. While this year will bring 2 new movies ( Black Widow and Eternals) along with 2 new mini-series on Disney+ (WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), 2021 is looking to be the most jam-packed year in Marvel Studios history with at least 3 shows on Disney+ and 4 new movies. Thanks to a new report from Variety.com, we now have an official start date for one of those movies! Giving an interview at the BAFTA Tea Party, writer/director/everyone’s favorite pile of rocks Taika Waititi revealed that he is planning to start shooting for Thor: Love and Thunder this coming August.

This is obviously very exciting news, and even though it is completely dependent on the horrendous wildfire situation in Australia, it’s always nice to get some definitive production news straight from the Korg’s mouth, so to speak. This timeframe for shooting makes plenty of sense, giving the team at Marvel Studios about 14-15 months to shoot and edit the film before its release, and with all the incredible effects and visuals that are sure to be a part of this adventure, it will undoubtedly be another massive but exciting endeavor for Kevin Feige and crew. Thor: Love and Thunder is set to bring back Chris Hemsworth for his 9th outing as the God of Thunder, along with Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Foster, and the film is set to release on November 5, 2021!
