Several weeks ago, a report that claimed an untitled upcoming Marvel Studios film would shoot in Australia surfaced online. Nobody knew what it officially was, just that it could be the then-announced Shang-Chi. Well, the New South Wales government has finally confirmed the report, saying not only would Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings be the only MCU filming there soon but Thor: Love and Thunder as well. Says Marvel Studios VP David Grant:
Shooting ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ back-to-back will provide local crews with sustained, continuous employment opportunities. We will be working with local educational institutions in creating internship opportunities.
New South Wales minister Don Harwin also revealed that the fourth Thor film would begin production in March 2020 with filming commencing in August of next year. Still ways off from where we are now but Shang-Chi is expected to begin filming by the end of this year, so there’s that.
