Marvel Studios is still ruling the Box Office, as Thor: Ragnarok is slowly closing in on its third weekend. The film already impressed with a massive opening in the domestic market, as well as helping push the franchise beyond $5 billion in the domestic market. The threequel in the Thor franchise might as well be the rejuvenation that the Box Office needed in 2017, as we may still be facing one of the weakest years in quite some time. Shortly before the film entered the weekend it already managed to make $502.3 million worldwide as of Wednesday.
It currently stands at a domestic income of $147.9 million with an international gross of $ 354.4 million. Predictions have pushed the film even further with it potentially adding another $60 million this weekend, which could also rise depending on the film’s continuous word-of-mouth. There is a good chance that it may even pass $500 million overseas. It is currently showing stronger results than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Doctor Strange.
Ragnarok is truly shaking up the competition, as it is still dominating in China after having the largest opening ever in the country with $55.6 million. With 17 entries into the franchise, it does not look like they are slowing down anytime soon. The toughest challenge will be the upcoming release of Justice League, as they share the same target demographic. Only time will tell, but there is a good chance that Thor’s third entry may pass Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s overall gross at this rate.
How far do you think the film will make it? What are your overall Box Office predictions?
