No one can deny that Thor: Ragnarok has turned into a surprise hit of the year with its trailers alone. The Thor franchise is getting shaken up by director Taika Waititi with more vibrant colors and finally taking the thunderer into space. We received small glimpses of the various realms that the Asgardians protect, but Ragnarok will let us see a lot more of the galaxy that they live in. Throw in an all-star cast with Cate Blanchett playing the main villain, it is sure to get people to visit their local cinema.

The social media buzz the show enjoyed seems to have given the film quite a boost. With franchises struggling to stay afloat, it seems the threequel will make quite a splash once it reaches cinemas. Industry experts are currently predicting the film to make between $90 million to $100 million in its opening weekend. This is a great sign, as its current prediction is ahead of Thor‘s $65.7 million and The Dark World‘s $85.7 million. Moreover, these are still early predictions that could change the closer we get to the film’s release.

There is a high possibility that this film to go even higher, as its trailer release in April managed to beat out Beauty and the Beast (127 million views) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (112 million) with 136 million. Moreover, the film has also received some great early reviews with a lot of critics praising the humor and characters. We are only a few weeks away and the film might surprise us with its opening weekend.

What are your predictions? How much do you think is it going to make?
