Set to premiere in Spring of 2021, the ‘Loki’ Disney+ series will finally show what Loki is up to after he escaped with the Tesseract and run away during the Time Heist of the Avengers during Avengers Endgame. Tom Hiddleston, who plays the iconic character, sat down with MTV News’ Personal Space to talk a little bit about the upcoming series.

In the interview, he revealed that he knew Loki’s fate in Avengers Infinity War two years before they filmed Thor Ragnarok. He initially thought that he was done with the character then. However, he shared when he learned that he will star in the Disney+ series.

I knew about six weeks before the worldwide release of Avengers: Infinity War. Which meant I had to go and do press for Avengers: Infinity War going, ‘Yup, that’s it guys.’

This means that he had to lie during press tours and tell them that he is ‘done’ with the character. Having completed the full arc of Loki’s journey through the movies then, Hiddleston shared interesting details on how this version of Loki will grow as a character in this series.

I know this character now. I feel that the audience knows him. Playing him truthfully, but presenting him with new challenges, when then I’d have to change him in different ways, is the most exciting aspect of it.

Hiddleston added that we will get to see how the God of Mischief uses his powers more and teases exciting villains along the way.

You’ve got his very specific gifts. His intelligence, treachery, his mischief, his magic, and then seeing him come up against more formidable opponents, the like of which he has never seen or known. I wish I could tell you what happens, but I can’t.

Given that the Loki that we follow in this series is an alternate version from the 2012 timeline, it will be interesting to see how different is this version’s growth and character development from the Loki that we followed in the movie side of the MCU from Thor to Avengers Infinity War.
