There is a ton of anticipation building up over the final week until Captain America: Civil War finally hits theaters, and people have good reason to be excited. Not only does the movie see Captain America and Iron Man go head to head, but it also makes the MCU debuts of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther and Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Both introductions are exciting for varying reasons, but the latter is something we did not know if it would ever happen.

The unprecedented deal between Sony and Marvel allow Spider-Man to now exist within the MCU, with Marvel at full control and Sony producing the film. His introduction in Civil War lays the foundation for the character so that his upcoming solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, is easily worked into the larger universe. It was recently revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would appear in the movie, but that is not enough for our newest Spider-Man. In a recent interview with MTV, Holland expressed interest in bringing another Avenger into his movie.

If I could have any Avenger show up in my movie…I really like Iron Man, he’s obviously my favorite, um, but I’d like Cap to show up at some point. I think that would be really cool if he did, but um, but they’re in the process of writing it so I really have no idea.

Now a lot of this depends on the ending of Captain America: Civil War and where it leaves the character. As Holland states, they are in the process of writing the script, but with the film set to start shooting in June they should already know what characters will and will not appear. Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled to hit theaters July 7, 2017.
