One of the details eagle-eyed fans caught in last weekend’s bombastic Black Panther trailer was the apparent lack of Klaue’s signature cybernetic arm-canon in his moment with Everett K. Ross. With the loss of his appendage at the hands of Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans were expecting to see a brand new arm for Klaue and with it nowhere to be seen, some wondered whether the Vibranium-thief would even have his iconic blasters in the film. In Entertainment Weekly’s Black Panther trailer breakdown with Kevin Feige and director Ryan Coogler, it was confirmed that Klaue would indeed have his weapon in the film.

In the comics, Klaue’s weapon was a sonic emitter he used as a prosthetic for his missing arm. In this film, he attaches a piece of advanced Wakandan mining equipment as his arm-cannon — which is presumably what led the CIA and Black Panther to capture him. In this shot, we can see the limb has been taken from him.

So it’s not that Klaue doesn’t have it in the MCU, it’s that those CIA jerks took it from him! What assholes they are, abusing someone with physical disabilities. I for one am really looking forward to learning how Klaue gets his hands on this weapon post-Age of Ultron. He and his crew seemed pretty flustered seeing the Avengers swoop into his botched deal with Ultron. I’m a sucker for filling in the blanks so a scene depicting what his next moves were would be kickass to see in the film.

As for the weapon being a piece of advanced Wakandan mining equipment, I wonder if his blaster will resemble Shuri’s dope futuristic gauntlets we saw in the trailer as well.
