For the past year or so, Vin Diesel has been seemingly teasing the possibility of another Marvel role – specifically that of Black Bolt, the leader of the Inhumans. When Diesel uploaded a fan manipulated image to his Facebook page last year with the tag-line “Are you Inhuman?”, it immediately sent the internet into a frenzy, leading many to believe that along with voicing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, Diesel would go on to portray Black Bolt in the Inhumans.
While promoting his upcoming film The Last Witch Hunter, io9 had a chance to speak with Diesel who explained that there’s definitely still a chance that he’ll portray a second Marvel character. And while his comments definitely seem to indicate that second character would be someone like Black Bolt, with three new films added to Marvel’s film slate, it could end up being something entirely different.
We’ve heard a lot of talk about Marvel wanting to have me play a character that doesn’t have my voice. So my voice is used for Groot and my presence is used for the other character.
With the Inhumans film currently not set to hit the big screen until 2019, it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything official if Diesel were to be cast as Black Bolt for some time yet. But it’s definitely beginning to seem as though there has been interest from both parties on giving Diesel more to do within the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
