Following last night’s reveal from Variety that a Falcon-Winter Soldier buddy miniseries was in works for the upcoming Disney streaming service from Marvel Studios and Empire writer Malcolm Spellman, Slashfilm had some sweet deets to add to the purported Scarlet Witch solo miniseries. According to Slashfilm, Scarlet Witch’s beau Vision will play a big part in it and that the show may not just be a Scarlet Witch solo arc but a couple story.
The other thing I’m hearing is that Paul Bettany‘s Vision will have a large part in the previously reported Scarlet Witch show. In fact, it may actually be a series more about the super-powered couple than just Wanda. This makes sense to me, as Wanda’s relationship with Vision is more compelling than Wanda on her own, and the two have a long and fascinating relationship in the pages of Marvel comics. I don’t think Scarlett Witch has received proper development outside of maybe Civil War, so a series that explores her further via her relationship with Vision makes sense.
As Peter Sciretta puts it, all this makes so much sense. It’s hard to imagine a Scarlet Witch story without any Vision in it, given how intrinsically tied they are to one another. There are a ton of great comic stories featuring the two lovebirds to mine from. As with all incoming shows from this project, the big question is whether the story will be a post-Avengers 4 one of a prequel. A prequel for this story works; fill in the blanks in their relationship as they get paired in missions before the Sokovia Accords. Post-Accords, you can set a story in the period when the two went off into the sunset. A post-Avengers 4 story might work depending on how they decide to bring back Viz.
