As most of you know, filming for next year’s Avengers: Infinity War is in full swing. Over the past four months, many returning actors have teased their returns all across social media, including Robert Downey, Jr., Tom Holland, Jeremy Renner, and several other key members of the cast. While we already assumed that most of the characters who have been officially confirmed to appear in the film would return, it’s still been nice to hear the official confirmations. As production for the film continues, more and more actors continue to tease their respective returns to their roles, including Sebastian Stan. He took to Instagram last night to tease his return to the role of Bucky Barnes/the Winter Soldier. Check it out below!

What’s interesting to note about Stan’s return as the Winter Soldier is the mystery surrounding where and when we’ll see him pop up again in the MCU. For those in need of a refresher, we last saw the Winter Soldier in a mid-credits scene in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, consenting to be put back in cryo-sleep in Wakanda under the watchful eye of T’Challa, the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) until a solution to his HYDRA-induced mind control episodes can be found. Whenever we see him next, we can expect to see just how he manages to awaken; with or without the cure, however, remains to be seen.

And because Bucky is currently settled in Wakanda, it’s also possible that he may be a part of Black Panther. However, that’s something we’re not exactly sure for three reasons. First off, we want Black Panther to be a self-contained story about T’Challa and his personal conflicts outside of the larger MCU. Secondly, the film just wrapped fairly recently, so unless reshoots are about to start and Sebastian has to get back in shape quickly for it, this likely isn’t the case. Third, because the production for Avengers: Infinity War will soon head back to stateside Atlanta after their stint in Europe (and because that film is said to feature the full Avengers roster), Sebastian may be prepping himself for that.
